Is Camping Season Over? Fall 2026 at Sea Pirate Campground Is Just Getting Started
If someone tells you camping season is over because summer ended, we have a different answer at Sea Pirate Campground:
Camping season is only over when we say it is over.
And we are definitely not there yet.
As of Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 5:00 PM, fall camping season is in full effect at Sea Pirate Campground in West Creek, New Jersey. The full summer activity schedule may be behind us, but some of the most memorable weekends of the year are still ahead: pumpkins, costumes, trick-or-treating, Halloween parties, the Haunted Trail, hayrides, Kiwi, live entertainment, campground competitions, crafts, Bingo, and crisp fall nights around the campsite.
Sea Pirate’s 2026 calendar continues through Closing Weekend, October 23–25, with organized fall activities scheduled nearly every weekend between now and then.
And just a few minutes away on Long Beach Island, September and October are what many locals call Local Summer — a quieter stretch of the year with warm ocean temperatures, beautiful sunsets, and plenty still happening around the island.
So pack the sweatshirts, bring the costumes, load up the camper, and don’t put away the beach bag quite yet.
Fall Camping 2026 at Sea Pirate Campground: What’s Still Ahead?
From September 22 forward, families still have more than a month of fall camping and themed weekends to enjoy.
Here’s the quick look:
- September 25–27: Family-Friendly Halloween
- October 2–4: Haunted Trail Halloween #1
- October 9–12: Haunted Trail Weekend #2
- October 16–18: Campers vs. Staff Weekend
- October 23–25: Closing Weekend
- Plus pumpkin picking and painting, costume contests, trick-or-treating, movies, hayrides, Kiwi, crafts, Bingo, Jumping Pillow sessions, live entertainment and Sea Pirate’s Haunted Trail.
There are no additional scheduled campground activities listed for Tuesday evening, September 22 itself, so the next scheduled activity weekend begins Friday, September 25 with Family-Friendly Halloween.
September 25–27: Family-Friendly Halloween
Fall gets started in a big way with Sea Pirate Campground’s first Halloween weekend of 2026.
This first weekend is designed around family-friendly Halloween fun, with a Halloween Party serving as the main event.
Friday, September 25
Jumping Pillow — 6:00 PM–7:30 PM
Start the weekend with some bouncing, running and campground fun. Wristbands must be worn and will be checked.
Pumpkin Patch — 8:00 PM–9:00 PM
Head to the field by the pool and pick out the pumpkin you’ll paint on Saturday. Pumpkins are $5 each.
Movie on the Pool Deck — 8:30 PM–10:00 PM
Bring snacks, blankets and the family to the pool deck for a showing of “The House with a Clock in Its Walls.”
Saturday, September 26
Donuts on the Pool Deck — 9:00 AM–10:00 AM
Start the morning with a donut made right at Sea Pirate.
Pumpkin Painting — 10:30 AM–12:30 PM
Bring your pumpkin to the field by the pool and turn it into a Halloween masterpiece. Didn’t pick one Friday night? Pumpkins will still be available for purchase. Parents should keep in mind that the paint can stain clothing.
Costume Contest — 1:00 PM–1:15 PM
Come dressed and ready to compete. Categories include:
- Ages 0–5
- Ages 6–11
- Ages 12+
- Best Group
- Best Pet
Winners will be selected at 1:15 PM sharp.
Trick-or-Treating — 1:30 PM–3:00 PM
Then comes one of the campground traditions kids wait all year for: walking around Sea Pirate and trick-or-treating throughout the campground.
Jumping Pillow — 3:00 PM–5:00 PM
Wristbands are required.
Saturday Night Main Event: Halloween Party
Halloween Party — 7:00 PM–10:00 PM
When the sun goes down, head to the pool deck for Sea Pirate’s Halloween Party.
There will be Halloween music, tarot card readings and sweet treats available at Queen Ann’s Galley.
Campers can also take a hayride around the campground and check out the decorated sites while deciding who deserves the title of Best Decorated Site.
There is something about a campground at night in the fall that just works. Cooler air. Decorated campsites. Kids carrying candy bags. Families walking together. Lights glowing through the trees. And everyone getting one more weekend outside before winter.
Sunday, September 27
Skeleton Foam Puppet — 10:00 AM–11:00 AM
Head to the Treasure Room for a Halloween craft. $3 per puppet.
Jumping Pillow — 11:30 AM–1:00 PM
One more Jumping Pillow session finishes Family-Friendly Halloween weekend. Wristbands must be worn and will be checked.
October 2–4: Haunted Trail Halloween #1
Think Halloween weekend was the finale? Not even close.
On October 2–4, Sea Pirate’s annual Haunted Trail season begins.
Friday includes the Jumping Pillow, a Haunted Pumpkin Patch, a pool-deck showing of “The Witches,” and Lurkers in the Campground beginning at 9:00 PM.
Saturday brings donuts, pumpkin painting, the costume contest, trick-or-treating and the Jumping Pillow before the main event.
Haunted Trail — Saturday, October 3 • 7:00 PM–10:00 PM
Campers take a hayride around Sea Pirate before exploring the Haunted Trail. Guests should sign up at the office ahead of time for a time slot.
Sunday finishes the weekend with a Halloween Picture Frame craft and another Jumping Pillow session.
October 9–12: Haunted Trail Weekend #2
Columbus Day weekend brings another four days of fall fun.
Friday night once again includes the Haunted Pumpkin Patch, “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” on the pool deck and Lurkers in the Campground.
Saturday brings back pumpkin painting, the costume contest, trick-or-treating and the Jumping Pillow.
Then Saturday night gets even bigger.
Haunted Trail and The Discoteks — Saturday, October 10 • 7:00 PM–10:00 PM
Sea Pirate’s Haunted Trail returns, along with The Discoteks on the pool deck.
Sunday continues with Inflatable Costume Kickball, tie dye, Sudsy Sunday, Jumbo Jenga, Bingo and a Float-In Movie featuring “ParaNorman.”
Sea Pirate’s annual Midnight Madness Sale also runs Sunday from 9:00 PM–10:00 PM, with discounts determined by rolling a Bingo ball.
Monday finishes the long weekend with Candy Bar Bingo and the Jumping Pillow.
October 16–18: Campers vs. Staff Weekend
By mid-October, Halloween gives way to a little friendly rivalry.
The main event is Campers vs. Staff Day.
Friday begins with the Jumping Pillow followed by Hayride and Meet Kiwi.
Saturday includes ceramics before campers take on Sea Pirate staff members in multiple games from 2:00 PM–3:30 PM.
Later in the afternoon there is tie dye and another Jumping Pillow session, followed by Bingo from 7:00 PM–8:30 PM in Swashbuckler’s Hall.
Sunday offers craft time and one final Jumping Pillow session.
October 23–25: Closing Weekend
Eventually, even we have to admit that camping season has to end.
But not until October 25.
Sea Pirate’s final scheduled weekend of the 2026 season begins Friday, October 23 with the Jumping Pillow and another chance to meet Kiwi before the hayride.
Saturday includes ceramics, Tug of War, tie dye, Kickball, the Jumping Pillow and Bingo at Swashbuckler’s Hall.
Sunday brings Candy Bar Bingo from 10:00 AM–11:00 AM, followed by the final scheduled Jumping Pillow session from 11:30 AM–1:00 PM.
Then — and only then — we’ll talk about the season being over.
Summer Is Still On at Long Beach Island
Here’s another reason September and October make such a good time to camp at Sea Pirate:
LBI isn’t finished either.
Long Beach Island’s quieter fall period is widely known as Local Summer. September and October can bring beautiful sunsets, comfortable days, and a more relaxed Jersey Shore atmosphere.
