Sea Pirate Campground has been family owned and operated since 1970 when Ann and Bruce Benn took a leap of faith and purchased a 36-acre campground, nestled just 8 miles from beautiful Long Beach Island. It was tough going in the beginning, but Bruce saw a diamond in the rough. Ann and Bruce packed up their three children, Bobby, Patrick, and Dave, and left the comforts of their home to move to the little town of West Creek, New Jersey. They opened for the first camping season in 1970. The family lived in a popup while renovating the structure that they would soon call home. The store, office, and game room were all part of that building. The Benn family worked endlessly to make this small quaint campground into a new vacation spot for families who loved the sun, sand, and the warmth of a campfire.
